Becoming Free from Attachments, Actualizing Wisdom
At the Crossroads of the Sakya and Kagyü Traditions

While he was in retreat, Kunga Nyingpo (1092–1158 C.E.), and eminent master of the Sakya tradition, received an essential teachings directly from the bodhisattva Manjushri, “Becoming Free from the Four Attachments.” These key instructions lay out the progressive path toward enlightenment. During the same era, Gampopa (1079–1153 C.E.), the founder of the Kagyü lineage, taught “The Four Dharmas,” which likewise present the essential aspects of the path to realization in a gradual way. These two concise texts describe the determining points of practice and the critical steps in the form of precepts for those who wish to accomplish the path.

Taking inspiration from these two teachings, Lama Jampa Thaye will explain the conditions we must gather and the pitfalls to avoid in order to actualize wisdom.
