17th Gyalwa Karmapa"Buddhism is a way of life through which we develop the qualities of our mind.
This way of life is very unusual, as it is a means to attain happiness without harming others.

Kunzik Shamar Rinpoché

Dear Dharma Friends and Practitioners,

Today, June 11, 2021, marks seven years since the departure of His Holiness Shamar Rinpoche, the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche.

Several years ago, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa reminded us,

Shamar Rinpoche’s ceaseless efforts to preserve our precious lineage are a great example to us all. Let us honnor this example by continuing to practice the Buddha Dharma.

By coming to Dhagpo each year to explain the Buddha Dharma, Shamar Rinpoche offered authentic and reliable resources for any person wishing to walk the path out of the suffering of conditioned existence. Thus, the greatest homage we can pay him is to apply the words of wisdom he shared with kindness over the years in the heart of our daily lives.

On this day of commemoration, we are happy to make the final teaching that Shamar Rinpoche shared at Dhagpo, on May 24 and 25, 2014 accessible to all. Several days before his parinirvana, he particularly emphasized the application of the practice Placing Remembrance with Concentration on Four Objects (also called the Four Objects of Mindfulness).

You will find the video of the teaching in Tibetan translated into French by Trinlay Rinpoche as well as the audio files—available for download—of the English, Spanish, German and Russian translations.

May the application of these instructions allow each of us to progress toward greater awareness and compassion.
