17th Gyalwa Karmapa"Buddhism is a way of life through which we develop the qualities of our mind.
This way of life is very unusual, as it is a means to attain happiness without harming others.

THE 17th GYALWA KARMAPA

DHAGPO KAGYU LING
Center for buddhist studies and meditation

As of several years, Lama Jigme Rinpoche has been progressively putting in place, with patience, benevolence, and trust, the best conditions possible so that our Dharma practice can take root based on the three aspects of practice: study, meditation, and activity.

Four teachers from Kalimpong shedra

Through Rinpoche's initiative, for the past three years, four qualified teachers have been invited to France in January for an intensive study retreat. Trained at the Institute of Buddhist Education and Research (shedra in Tibetan) Shri Diwakar Vihara, in Kalimpong, India, they have spent seven years studying the reference texts of the Kagyü lineage. Their mastery of Buddhist knowledge allowed them to obtain the title of acharya, the Sanskrit term for “professor,” “master,” or “spiritual tutor,” which is roughly equivalent to the Western title Doctor of Philosophy.

For the third consecutive year, two of the four acharyas will travel throughout France to share their profound knowledge of key Buddhist ideas in the KTTs and other francophone centers. The second two will remain throughout the month at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling and Kundreul Ling.

Dhagpo: Abhidharmakosha Studies

At Dhagpo, the center will be closed to the public from January 1—January 31, 2016 to allow the fulltime volunteers at the center to pursue in-depth study of Vasubhandu's Abhidharmakosha begun last year. The center reopens its doors January 31, 2016 at 2:30 pm.

Kundreul ling: Study and Retreat Open to All

At Kundreul Ling, the study retreat will take place from January 4—January 27, 2016 and will focus on Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend, which describes the entirety of the path of the Great Vehicle from the basis of ethics to profound view.

This retreat, comprising two daily sessions of teaching and two daily sessions of group study, is open to all those wishing to study in-depth and able to follow the entirety of the retreat.

For those who are not available for the four consecutive weeks, the teaching covering the essential points of the Buddha's teaching will take place during three consecutive Sundays: January 10, 17, and 24, in Le Bost's Great Temple.
