THE 17th GYALWA KARMAPA

An Exceptional Visit from Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche

Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoch

Born in 1995, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche was recognized by Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, as the 4th incarnation of the Kongtrul. From the age of four years, he has been studying and memorizing the rituals of his tradition. At fourteen years old, he began his studies of the major texts of Buddhist philosophical and epistemological texts at Sakya College in Dehradun, India. He received the major Vajrayana empowerments from Karmapa, Sakya Gongma Rinpoche, and from his father, Beru Khyentse Rinpoche.  Kongtrul Rinpoche is an important figure in the Kagyu lineage. Now twenty-two years old, he has begun to deploy a vast and beneficial activity.

The Wishes of Excellent Conduct: The King of Wishing Prayers

“Just as food provides nutrition on a physical level, similarly by making these aspirations–Samantabhadra’s King of Aspiration Prayers–we harvest the nutritional benefit of merit and wisdom […] which in turn help to develop our mind in the most beneficial way.” This is how Karmapa explains the meaning of wishing prayer practice. Over three days, Kongtrul Rinpoche introduces us to the meaning of each stanza of the text, which constitutes a practice in and of itself. Furthermore, the diversity of subjects covered in this work give us a vast and profound vision of the Buddha's teaching and particularly of the great vehicle (Mahayana).

Manjushri Empowerment

Manjushri allows us to develop the spiritual intelligence necessary for the practice of listening, reflection, and meditation. Meditating on his form, reciting his mantra, and contemplating his mind allow us to dissipate the obscurations connected to confusion and to develop clarity.

Of Note:

Have taken refuge is required: see Enrich Your Life: October 14 and 15, February 10 and 11
Rinpoche will give refuge before the empowerment.
