Tuesday, October 24–Sunday, October 29

The 4th Dongsung Shabdrung Rinpoche, renowned for his vast knowledge, is recognized as an emanation of Sangye Yeshe (832 – 902 CE), one of Padmasambhava’s 25 closest disciples.
Although belonging to the Sakya lineage, he has received the most important transmissions and complete empowerments from masters of the different schools, including Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. He is presently the main instructor at Dhongtsang Monastery in China.

Introduction to the Middle Way

This text from Chandrakirti (7th century) recounts the path of the bodhisattvas across ten chapters, each dedicated to an enlightened quality (paramita). Chapter 6, dedicated to emptiness (prajnaparamita) makes up the main body of the work; in this chapter one finds essential themes of the middle way: the absence of self, the two truths, and emptiness. Rinpoche will give an overview of the work and transmit the keys for understanding this text, a reference for all who wish to enter into the middle way.
